Pronounced ka-TRENT-cha, the name is Frisian for Katrina. My great great grandmother's name was Trientje (Trina) which is a truncation of Katrientje. There are no records that I can find to tell me if her formal name was Katrientje, but I decided on the full form of this name for this flower. Katherine (or Catherine) is another English version of this name which explains where my Grandmother Sylvia got her middle name. I love the coppery coral color of this flower.
