The very first night we were there we went into session. Our first
assignment was learning about the "gestalt." The gestalt is the first
impression, basic shape, or feeling about what the target is. Most
people's idea of remote viewing is that the viewer needs to correctly
see or identify the target. "It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a tree! It's the
Empire State Building!" Joe says this is not the correct approach
because what happens is once the subconscious starts to pick up
information about the target, the conscious kicks in and wants to try to
identify it. This leads to a bunch of conjecture (ego) and, therefore,
wrong answers. The idea is to work on the initial shapes and
impressions in the beginning and worry about the details later when
you've had more practice. The viewer's job is not to identify
anything; just report on what is being "picked up" psychically.

instructions and drew our first
impressions. The recording
kept saying "target," so I kept
drawing more shapes.
Interestingly, most of them
looked rather "tadpole-ish."
Towards the end of the
session, I was drawing
squiggly lines and forms.
Our reveal or "feedback"
wouldn't be until the next
morning.
